The nearest beach is Cala Comte, 2.8 km straight line away, known for its shallow clear water and views of the islets. Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta are 5.4 km away, a pair of coves with pine trees and sand. Cala d'Hort, 8.9 km away, faces Es Vedrà, the limestone islet that is a nature reserve. The sunset at Cala Comte is a popular sight. Sant Antoni de Portmany, 4.4 km away, has a promenade, a marina and a bus station. Climbing Sa Talaia, the highest point on Ibiza at about 475 m, is 6.4 km away and gives views over the island.

A day from Villa Horizonte

Start the morning at Villa Horizonte with breakfast on the terrace. Drive 2.8 km to Cala Comte for a swim in the clear water. The cove has shallow areas and offshore islets to explore. Bring snorkelling gear. After a couple of hours, drive 5.4 km to Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta, where you can walk between the two coves. Pack a picnic lunch, as there are few facilities at the beach.

In the afternoon, drive 6.4 km to Sa Talaia and climb to the summit for the view. Then head to Cala d'Hort, 8.9 km from the villa, to see Es Vedrà from the shore. In the evening, return to Cala Comte to watch the sunset, then drive back to the villa for dinner cooked in the kitchen. The day uses a car for all movements.

Practical tips

Much of Ibiza's tourism business closes roughly from November to April, so check with Villa Horizonte whether it is open in winter. July and August are the peak months, with higher demand and more traffic on the roads. The Balearic sustainable tourism tax (the ecotasa) is charged per person per night by the accommodation; the rate depends on the type of accommodation and the season, is reduced in low season and for longer stays, and children under 16 are exempt.
