How the guide is made: where the facts come from, how AI is used, how facts and photos are checked, what the distances mean, why there are no prices and how to ask for a correction.

Our approach

Useful, checked and honest about how it is made

imptbalearic.es exists to help you choose an island, an area and a place to stay. Every page is written to answer the questions a traveller actually asks, in British English, with Catalan place names spelt correctly. We would rather say that something varies or that you should check it locally than state a figure we cannot stand behind.

How AI is used

The guide is written with AI assistance. Language models draft the area guides, things to do, practical guides, blog posts, hotel descriptions and visa explanations from the data listed below and from a fact sheet of key facts for the islands. They do not browse the web and do not invent sources.

Every draft passes automated checks before it can be published: it must agree with the fact sheet (heritage listings and their years, heights, distances, the fact that Formentera has no airport), name places correctly, contain no prices and meet structure and length rules. Drafts that fail are rewritten or left out; hotels whose description does not pass are not published. The IMPT team reviews the checks, the fact sheet and the page designs.

Distances, prices and hotel details

Distances on hotel and area pages are straight-line distances, measured from the hotel's map coordinates. Travel by road, path or ferry is longer, and the guide says so where it matters, such as the ferry to Formentera.

There are no prices on the guide pages. Rates are live from IMPT's hotel suppliers and are shown in the IMPT booking app for the dates and guests you choose. Hotel facilities and guest scores come from the IMPT hotel database; we do not visit every hotel, so check anything essential, such as accessibility, with the hotel before you book.

Visa pages

Whether a nationality needs a visa for Spain comes from the EU list in Regulation 2018/1806, in its consolidated version, with the date we read it shown on each page. The model writes the explanation around that status and never decides it. Rules such as the EU Entry/Exit System and ETIAS change; the pages point to the official sources, and you should confirm your own case before travelling.

Updates and corrections

Each page shows the date it was last reviewed. We rebuild pages whenever the data behind them changes, aim to review every page at least twice a year, and recheck the visa pages whenever the EU list is amended.

If you spot a mistake, send it to us by WhatsApp with the page address. We check it against the source, correct the page and update its review date. Independence: no hotel pays to appear in the guide or to be described more favourably; who runs the site and how bookings work is on the about page.

FAQ

How the guide is made: questions

Is the content on imptbalearic.es written by AI?

It is written with AI assistance. Language models draft the pages from our hotel data, open data and a checked fact sheet; automated checks and editorial review decide what is published.

How are the distances on hotel pages measured?

In a straight line, from the hotel's map coordinates to the airport, the port, the main town and the nearest beaches. Real journeys by road or on foot are longer.

Why might a hotel's rate in the app differ from what I expected?

Rates are live from IMPT's suppliers and change with dates, occupancy and availability. The guide does not print prices, so the app is always the reference.

Who took the photos and videos used across the guide?

From Pexels and Wikimedia Commons, each checked to show the island and place it illustrates. Commons photos carry the author and licence; hotel galleries come from the IMPT hotel database.

How often are pages updated?

Each page shows the date it was last reviewed. We rebuild pages whenever the underlying data changes and aim to review every page at least twice a year, with visa pages rechecked when the EU list changes.

How do I report a mistake on a page?

Send the page address and the problem by WhatsApp on +353 83 482 0583. We check it against the source, correct the page and update its review date.

Does IMPT pay hotels or receive payment for reviews on the site?

No hotel pays to appear in the guide or to be described more favourably. Hotels are ordered by star rating and guest score from the IMPT hotel database.

Can I rely on the visa pages for my trip?

They are a guide to the rules, not legal advice. Always confirm your own case with the Spanish consulate or the official EU and Spanish government sites linked on every visa page before you travel.
