In the shoulder months of May, June, September and October, the area is less crowded and parking is easier. A car is useful for reaching coves and beaches further afield, as many are not on a bus route.

From the bus stop in Ibiza Town, a short taxi ride or a walk across the marina brings you to Talamanca.

From Ibiza Town port, the straight-line distance is 2.2 km. Ferries from the port connect to Formentera (La Savina), Palma, Barcelona, Valencia and Dénia. In winter, flights and ferries are fewer. Talamanca beach is 1.1 km straight line from Casa Lui, a calm shallow bay suitable for swimming. Dalt Vila, the walled old town of Ibiza Town, is 2.8 km away; the Renaissance walls and cathedral are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Puig des Molins Phoenician-Punic necropolis is 3.5 km away. The Ses Salines dunes are 11.4 km away, inside the natural park.

Ibiza's food includes bullit de peix and arròs a banda, a fish stew served in two courses, and fresh fish and rice dishes. Many restaurants in Ibiza Town and Talamanca serve these. The nearest supermarket is in Ibiza Town. For a day out, the coves of the south and west coasts are a short drive.

A day from Casa Lui

Start the morning at Casa Lui with breakfast on the terrace or balcony. Walk or drive the 1.1 km to Talamanca beach for a swim in the calm bay. After a morning on the sand, drive 2.8 km into Ibiza Town to walk the walls of Dalt Vila and see the cathedral. For lunch, find a restaurant in the old town serving fresh fish.

In the afternoon, drive 3.5 km to the Puig des Molins necropolis, or head 11.4 km south to the Ses Salines dunes for a walk in the natural park. Return to Casa Lui for a swim in the outdoor pool. In the evening, drive back into Ibiza Town for dinner and a stroll along the marina. The port is 2.2 km away.

Practical tips

Much of Ibiza's tourism business closes roughly from November to April; check Casa Lui's opening dates before booking. July and August are the peak months, with higher demand and prices. The Balearic sustainable tourism tax (the ecotasa) is charged per person per night by the accommodation; the rate depends on the season and the type of accommodation, and children under 16 are exempt.
