A car is essential for reaching the coast, shops and restaurants. In the shoulder months of May, June and September the roads are lighter, and the villa's garden and pool become a quiet retreat after a day out.

Beaches, sights and food nearby

The nearest listed sights are Dalt Vila and the Puig des Molins necropolis, both about 7 km straight line. Dalt Vila is the walled old town of Eivissa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. You can walk the 16th-century walls and visit the cathedral at the top. The necropolis is a Phoenician-Punic burial site. Sa Talaia, the highest point on Ibiza at about 475 m, is 9.8 km away and offers views of the whole island.

Talamanca beach is 6.7 km straight line, a calm shallow bay across the marina from Ibiza Town. Sant Antoni de Portmany is 8.3 km away, with its west-facing bay and the sunset strip. A day from Villa Miguel

Start the morning at Villa Miguel with breakfast on the terrace. Drive 6.7 km to Dalt Vila and spend an hour walking the walls and the cobbled streets. From there, go down to the port and take the short drive to Talamanca beach for a swim. The water is shallow and calm, good for families.

In the afternoon, drive 9.8 km to Sa Talaia and climb the path to the summit for a view over the south and west of the island. Return to the villa for a swim in the pool. In the evening, drive 8.3 km to Sant Antoni de Portmany and watch the sunset from the west-facing shore. Drive back to Villa Miguel for a quiet night in the garden.

Practical tips

Much of Ibiza's tourism business closes roughly from November to April. Check with Villa Miguel whether it is open in the months you plan to travel. July and August are the peak months, with the busiest roads and beaches. The Balearic sustainable tourism tax (the ecotasa) is charged per person per night by the accommodation; the rate depends on the season and the type of property, is reduced in low season and for longer stays, and children under 16 are exempt.
