Ferries from Barcelona and Mallorca dock at both ports; Ciutadella is the nearer one for this villa. From the port, a taxi or a hire car covers the short distance to Cala en Blanes. Flights and ferries are fewer from November to April, so plan around the season.

Beaches, sights and food nearby

Ciutadella old town is 2.9 km straight line from Villa Isi. Its cathedral, narrow streets and port are worth an evening visit. The Naveta des Tudons, a boat-shaped prehistoric tomb, is 7.3 km away, and Cala Turqueta, a white-sand cove on the south coast, is 11.9 km. Cala Galdana, a larger bay with a beach, is 14.9 km straight line.

The island's food includes Mahón-Menorca cheese, which has a protected designation of origin, and caldereta de llagosta, a lobster stew from Fornells on the north coast. In Ciutadella you can buy cheese and provisions for the villa's kitchen. The Camí de Cavalls, the 185 km coastal path, passes near the area, and the Sant Joan festival with horses takes place in Ciutadella around 23-24 June.

A day from Villa Isi

Start the day with breakfast at the villa, then drive to Cala Turqueta, 11.9 km away. Arrive early in summer, as the car park fills and the cove gets busy. Swim in the clear water, then walk the short path to Cala Macarella nearby. In the afternoon, head back towards Ciutadella and visit the Naveta des Tudons, 7.3 km from the villa, to see the prehistoric tomb.

In the evening, drive the 2.9 km to Ciutadella and walk the old town as the light fades. The port has a narrow harbour with boats and a lively atmosphere. Have dinner in one of the restaurants in the old town, then return to the villa for a quiet night. On another day, take the 24.4 km drive to Es Mercadal and Monte Toro for views of both coasts.

Practical tips

Much of Menorca's tourism business closes roughly from November to April, so check with Villa Isi about its opening dates and whether the pool is available outside the summer season. July and August are the peak months, with the busiest roads and beaches. The Balearic sustainable tourism tax is charged per person per night by the accommodation; the rate depends on the season and length of stay, and children under 16 are exempt.
