Location: Maó (Mahón)

Villa Forma Nou is on the Carretera Canutells, a road that runs through farmland and low hills south-east of Maó. The nearest village is Sant Lluís, 7.1 km away, a white village with windmills and a weekly market. The villa is not within walking distance of any beach or town; a car is essential for getting around. The straight-line distance to Cala en Porter is 4.2 km and to Binibeca Vell is 6 km.

In high summer, July and August, the roads to the southern coves fill early, and car parks at Cala en Porter and Binibeca Vell can reach capacity by mid-morning. In the shoulder months of May, June and September, the area is quieter, the countryside is green, and the sea is warm enough for swimming. The villa feels isolated and private, with no neighbouring resorts.

Rooms and facilities

The villa is listed with air conditioning, a kitchen with an oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and coffee-making facilities, and a washing machine. There is a bath, hairdryer and toiletries in the bathroom. The living area has a TV, DVD and CD player, and a radio. The outdoor space includes a terrace, a patio and a garden with a swimming pool. Guests should confirm the number of bedrooms and the layout directly with the property.

For families, a cot and high chairs are listed as available. The villa is non-smoking inside. Late arrivals should check the check-in procedure with the owner, as the property is in a rural location without a reception desk. The free car parking is on the driveway. The villa has a first-aid kit and a smoke detector.

Getting there

Menorca Airport (MAH) is 3.9 km away as the crow flies, about a 5-minute drive by taxi or hire car. A hire car collected at the airport is the most practical option, as there is no bus service directly to the villa. Buses from the airport run to Maó and, in summer, to the resorts; from Maó you would need a taxi for the remaining 8.7 km to the villa. Flights are fewer in winter, and some airlines suspend routes from November to March.

From Maó port (8.7 km straight line), take a taxi or drive via the Me-1 and the Carretera Canutells. The ferry from Maó to Barcelona is an overnight crossing of several hours; there is no regular direct ferry to Ibiza or Formentera. From Ciutadella, in the west of the island, the drive to Villa Forma Nou takes about 40 minutes via the Me-1. Seasonal buses run to Cala en Porter and Sant Lluís in summer, but they do not stop at the villa.

Practical tips

Much of Menorca's tourism business closes roughly from November to April; check the villa's opening dates before booking, as some self-catering properties operate seasonally. July and August are the peak months, with the hottest weather and the busiest beaches. The Balearic sustainable tourism tax (the ecotasa) is charged per person per night by the accommodation; the rate depends on the type of accommodation and the season, is reduced in low season and for longer stays, and children under 16 are exempt.
