Trinidadian and Tobagonian citizens can travel to Spain, including the Balearic Islands of Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera, without a visa for short stays. The visa exemption allows stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism, family visits or business. No special conditions apply. You must still meet standard entry requirements at the border.

What the visa exemption means

The visa-free status applies to all Schengen countries, including Spain. You can enter Ibiza, Menorca or Formentera for short trips without applying for a visa in advance. The 90-day limit is calculated across the whole Schengen area, not per country.

The exemption covers tourism, visiting family, attending meetings or cultural events. It does not permit paid work or long-term stays. The rules are set by EU Regulation (EU) 2018/1806 and remain unchanged for Trinidadian and Tobagonian citizens.

Before you travel and at the border

Ensure your passport is valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen area and was issued within the last ten years. Border officers may ask for proof of onward or return travel, accommodation bookings and sufficient funds for your stay.

New EU entry systems are being introduced. The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) and the Entry/Exit System (EES) are not yet in force. Check the official EU travel website before you travel for the latest updates.

Arriving on the islands

Ibiza Airport (IBZ) and Menorca Airport (MAH) receive flights from mainland Spain and other European cities. Formentera has no airport. To reach Formentera, fly to Ibiza and take a ferry from the port of Eivissa to La Savina. Mallorca is a transit point for connecting flights or ferries.

At the border, present your passport and any requested documents. The visa-free entry is straightforward for Trinidadian and Tobagonian citizens. No visa is stamped, but your entry and exit may be recorded electronically.

Staying longer, working or studying

The visa exemption does not cover stays longer than 90 days in any 180-day period. For longer visits, work or study, you need a national visa or residence permit. Apply through the Spanish consulate in Trinidad and Tobago or the nearest Schengen embassy.

Check the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain or the consulate for the correct application process. The visa pages of this site do not issue visas or provide application forms.
