Rules can change: confirm on the official site before you travel. imptbalearic.es is a hotel and travel site; it does not issue visas.
Mongolian citizens need a Schengen short-stay visa to enter Spain for tourism, including trips to Ibiza, Menorca or Formentera. The visa allows a stay of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Apply at the Spanish consulate or the visa centre it uses in your country of residence before you travel. The visa is valid for the whole Schengen area.
What the status means
Mongolian passport holders are on the Schengen visa list. A short-stay visa is required for any visit to Spain, including the Balearic Islands. The visa permits stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism, family visits or business. It does not allow work or study.
The visa is issued by Spain's consulate or the visa centre it uses in your country of residence. You must apply before departure. The visa is valid for the entire Schengen area, so you can travel to other member states within the allowed period.
Before you travel
Apply at the Spanish consulate or visa centre in your country of residence. You will need a valid passport, application form, photos, travel insurance, flight and accommodation details, and proof of funds. Check the consulate's website for the full list and any additional requirements.
At the border, carry your passport and visa. Have proof of your return ticket and accommodation. Border officers may ask for evidence of your travel plans and financial means. Keep copies of all documents in your luggage and on your person.
Arriving on the islands
Ibiza Airport (IBZ) and Menorca Airport (MAH) receive international flights. Formentera has no airport. Fly to Ibiza, then take a ferry to La Savina. Mallorca is a transit point only; ferries and flights connect it to the other islands.
On arrival, have your passport and visa ready. Immigration checks are routine. If you arrive via Mallorca, you clear Schengen entry there. No additional visa is needed for inter-island travel once you are in Spain.
Staying longer or working
A short-stay visa does not allow work or study. For longer stays, a national visa or residence permit is required. Apply at the Spanish consulate in your country of residence before travelling.
Check the official Spanish immigration website for requirements and procedures. Rules change, so confirm the latest details before you apply. The visa process for long stays is separate from the short-stay visa.
